All you need is a regular, rubber plunger. Follow the steps below to properly plunge your shower drain:

1. Remove the cover on your shower drain. Some plates may be bolted down, in which you will need to unscrew the screws and remove the cover.
2. Inspect the drain to see if you can see any clogs or debris within reach. If so, use a pair of pliers, paperclip, or wire hanger to remove the clog.
3. Next, you will need to stop the showers overflow drain using a wet rag. This stuff is important and will help the plunger properly emit enough force to remove the clog.
4. Now, place the plunger over the drain and fill your shower with a little bit of water so that the bottom of the plunger is covered.
5. Begin pushing the plunger up and down forcefully. Repeat this rhythm at least 15 to 20 times.
6. Remove the plunger and let any excess water drain away. If you notice that the water is not draining, you may need to plunge again.
7. When you are done, run some hot water down the drain to ensure that it is properly draining and to help remove any residual debris.
